Great advice and love the Antarctica analogy.

You've raised a point that explains why startups and really young companies have to get a few years under the belts in order to move forward -- and can't be rushed.

My view is that with startups everything is so new that you don't have enough consistency in anything. Until you get past the point where everything you encounter is some "new adventure" in your business, you can't make real progress. And with startups you just need to go through that time period where you work to make things consistent.

And how great would it be if we can learn toadapt and standardize our reactions consistently in reaction to the crazyness in our worlds! Sounds like a good New Year's resolution!

Andy, I totally agree with your analogies. In fact in my business of making technology work for businesses, I find that that the only way to handle the ever changing world of technology is to follow well defined standards and consistency.
This may seem like an oxymoron but if you standardize the way you accept change and growth you have a better chance to innovate without breaking something.
As we all know there are no guarantees with a trip to Antarctica or changing your business but you definitely have a better chance if you adhere to proven standards!
